The greatest competitive advantage of the HiLASE Centre is not its lasers, buildings or technology, but its people. This is one of the reasons why leadership and team development are an integral part of the laser centre’s operation. But what does this systematic approach to working with people really look like in practice?
This is precisely what we will be discussing at the next Leadership Bites session, a series of informal morning meetings designed for research team leaders, scientists and experts from the research and innovation sectors. In a case study from the HiLASE Centre, we will look at the story of their Middle Management Academy – a development programme for team leaders who form a bridge between the centre’s management and the individual teams. Michaela Köszegi and Marek Marušinec, who are the trainers on this year-long programme, will share their experiences, and Olga Lakomá, Head of Strategic People and Culture Development at the HiLASE Centre, will also offer her perspective. Together, we will explore why HiLASE’s management launched the Middle Management Academy, how the programme is structured, what has proved to be crucial during its implementation, and what feedback has been received from the participants themselves.
