About the event

How do we attract and retain talented people in research? How can HR contribute to building a healthy research culture? And what HR approaches really work in research institutions?

We would like to invite you to the next networking meetup from our Leadership Bites series which will take place on June 16, 2026 from 10:00. This edition of Leadership Bites will focus on the role of HR in research organisations.

Who is this event for?

This session is designed for HR professionals from research organisations or academic institutions who are interested in sharing experiences, discussing current challenges, and learning from peers across the research sector. Whether you are part of a larger HR team or the sole HR professional in your institution, you are welcome to join the conversation.

Research institutions invest significant effort in developing talented researchers and building high-performing teams. But the quality of the working environment, organisational culture, and employee experience is often shaped not only by scientific leaders, but also by HR professionals, project managers, and research support staff.

Since we want to build a community of people facing similar challenges, we would like to invite you to an informal meetup of HR professionals from research institutions and create space for sharing experiences, challenges, and best practices from across the sector. Our goal is an open and informal discussion so please don’t expect a conference or a series of lectures. Together, we will discuss about what works for us in HR at research institutions, where we have hit dead ends, what mistakes we have made, what we have learned from them, and what approaches we would recommend to others.

The discussion will be opened by:

  • Olga Lakomá (HiLASE Centre), who will present the HiLASE approach to HR and people development
  • Lenka Divinová (CEITEC), who will share her experience from one of the leading Czech research institutions

Their short talks will serve as starting points for a broader conversation among participants.

We encourage everyone to come prepared to share their own experience, whether it is a successful initiative, a challenge you are currently facing, or a topic you would like to discuss with peers. The aim is to create a trusted environment where participants can learn from one another, exchange practical insights, and strengthen connections within the research community.

The event capacity will be limited to ensure that the discussion remains intimate and effective.
