About the event

A successful start in a research group is about more than just paperwork and a lab tour. It is about how quickly a new scientist becomes a functional, motivated, and integrated member of the team. This interactive webinar explores onboarding as a strategic tool for PIs and researchers alike.

What you will learn

  • When does onboarding begin?
  • When does onboarding end?
  • What should onboarding cover?
  • What does not belong in onboarding / what to avoid?
  • Specifics of onboarding in a research environment
  • The supervisor’s role in onboarding
  • The researcher’s role in onboarding
  • How to improve the quality of onboarding from both sides
  • Common mistakes in onboarding
  • What a well-managed onboarding process looks like

This session will be both practical and interactive. You will work with your own experience and real situations from research environments. Please be ready to actively engage (camera on, mic ready, pen & paper).

The webinar takes place on May 27, 9:30 – 11:00 and will be held online (via MS Teams). The capacity is limited to 30 participants to ensure an interactive format. The link to join the webinar will be sent to all registered participants in a reminder email a few days before the event.

Please keep your cameras and microphones ready. We will be using practical exercises, so have a pen and paper at hand.

The webinar will be held in English.

Please note: The number of spots for this webinar is limited. If you find out you can’t join, please let us know as soon as possible at kozakova@star-cluster.cz so we can offer your place to another participant. Thank you for your consideration.
